One person, thirty years of experience, and a simple idea: honest advice that doesn't try to sell you something you don't need.
MobilityInsider started because I got tired of seeing the same thing over and over: people going online to research a mobility product and finding nothing but manufacturer copy, SEO content farms, and sites that rank products they've never touched based on Amazon reviews they've never verified.
When someone is choosing a wheelchair for their mum, or trying to work out whether they need a Class 2 or Class 3 scooter, or wondering if a riser recliner is worth the money — they deserve advice from someone who's actually sold these products, demonstrated them, and dealt with the fallout when the wrong one gets bought.
That's what this site is. Every guide, every review, every recommendation comes from hands-on experience. Not press releases, not spec sheets, not paid placements. Just the advice I'd give you if you walked into my shop.
Over three decades on shop floors and in store management. Learned everything I know about retail, customer service, and how to match people with the right product.
Customer Support Officer in domiciliary care. Saw first-hand how the right equipment changes people's lives at home — and how the wrong equipment makes things harder.
Store Manager in a dedicated mobility and stairlift retailer. This is where everything came together — years of retail experience applied directly to wheelchairs, scooters, riser recliners, stairlifts, and daily living aids. The knowledge behind this site comes largely from this work.
Putting everything I've learned into one place, free for anyone who needs it.
No manufacturer pays for placement here. If I recommend something, it's because I've seen it work — not because someone's paying me to say it.
Mobility products come with more jargon than they should. I write everything the way I'd explain it face to face — no technical nonsense, no marketing fluff.
If something's not worth buying, I'll say so. If a cheap product does the job as well as an expensive one, I'll tell you that too. No agenda.
The right product is the one that fits the person's needs and budget — not the one with the highest margin. That's how I've always worked and it's how this site works.
MobilityInsider uses affiliate links. When you click through to a retailer from this site and make a purchase, I may earn a small commission. This doesn't cost you anything extra — the price is the same whether you come through my link or go directly.
Affiliate income is what keeps this site running. It pays for hosting, for my time writing and researching, and means I don't need to charge for the content or plaster the site with adverts.
Crucially: the commission does not influence what I recommend. I recommend products based on experience and performance. If a product with a lower commission is better than one with a higher commission, I recommend the better product. Every time.
I want to be upfront about this because transparency matters. Too many review sites bury their affiliate relationships or pretend they don't exist. You deserve to know how the site works so you can trust what you read on it.
If there's a product you'd like me to review, a topic you think I should cover, or you just want to ask advice about which mobility aid is right for your situation — I'm happy to help.
